If you have enough money, buy Echo shard early. If you're struggling, buy Arcane Surge early.
Past this point, buy in any order
if you're struggling to stay alive, buy infuser. If you need damage to solo mid boss, buy escalating exposure. If you need to push all waves because your team is stupid, or if you just want to farm a lot, buy Transcendent cooldown. If you need damage over time or crowd damage, buy Spirit burn first. If you need any of the above, boundless spirit is a good all rounder. Buy it second or third if you don't buy it first.

if you are rich as F***, sell duration extender and buy these
they provide just as many grenade pulses as duration extender and give better stats
I didn't know where to put this info but you start with your time wall (2) to put it in front of your troopers, so you can easily deny souls >:)
