No patch notes, but the community still found changes in today’s Deadlock update.
Valve pushed another update without an official changelog. Even so, players quickly started digging through the game files and recordings and found several interesting additions.
8 new Soul Orb deny sounds
The files include 8 different variations of the enemy Soul Orb deny sound (xp_orbs_local_player_deny). Previously, the game used only one sound, but now it appears to select one of eight at random. It is a small change, but it adds a bit more variety and makes gameplay feel slightly more dynamic.
New running animation for
Drifter
Drifter received a new running animation during his ultimate.
The character now accelerates in a much more aggressive and dynamic way, almost animal-like.
It looks like this may have been an older developer animation pass that has finally made its way into the game
New parry animation for
Mina
Valve also updated
Mina’s parry animation.
She now blocks with her umbrella.
According to the article, this change had originally been added on September 7, 2025 after feedback from a Discord user named hexal.
Map optimization
The developers also improved optimization across the map.
There are no detailed technical notes, but this is still good news for players with weaker hardware.
New “Internal” game mode
A new line appeared in the game code:
k_ECitadelGameMode_Internal = 6
This is a direct hint at a new mode called Internal.
What exactly it is remains unknown for now.
Some sources speculate that it could be a PvE mode with closed maps, new enemy waves, and unlockable skins, but that has not been confirmed.

Insider minesweeper reacted to the find with a single word:
«ror3»
This appears to be a reference to Risk of Rain.
When asked whether this was just a quality-of-life update or simply another patch without notes, the response was:
«More is on the way»
